Michael's Minute: More Options for LindowsOS 4.0

As you know, we're getting closer to the LindowsOS 4.0 launch. I thought I'd take a minute and tell you about some of the changes that you'll see when we release LindowsOS 4.0.

Change #1 - New Pricing for Click-N-Run Membership

True to our commitment of providing "The World's Most Affordable Software," when we release LindowsOS 4.0, we will be changing our pricing. To provide more options and flexibility, we will be breaking up the Click-N-Run Membership. Since more and more commercial products will be coming to the Warehouse via Click-N-Buy, we didn't want to "force" any particular commercial product or bundle of products on someone when they buy a Click-N-Run Membership. We would rather let the customer decide which, if any, commercial products they would like to use. Therefore, instead of a Click-N-Run Membership being $99 a year, it will drop to $49.95 a year and won't include the commercial products (StarOffice, Bitstream Fonts, Tux Deluxe, etc.). These products will of course still be available to LindowsOS users, but via Click-N-Buy or in "bundles" with other products, all at substantially discounted prices for Click-N-Run members.

Change #2 - New Add-On Packages
We wanted to offer a more complete line of products, available online and at retail outlets, so we will be introducing FIVE new online and retail boxed packages with the release of LindowsOS 4.0:

LindowsOS 4.0 - This will be the stand-alone version of LindowsOS. Pricing: $49.95 digital, $59.95 retail box. This package will also be coming with a new surprise...more on that in a future Michael's Minute.

Lindows Plus - Get a lifetime license to over 1,500 programs via Click-N-Run for just $49.95 digital, $59.95 retail box. This package also includes a membership to the Click-N-Run Warehouse.

Lindows Office - This is Sun's StarOffice and the Bitstream Deluxe Fonts bundled together. Pricing: $49.95 digital, $59.95 retail box. This is another great value since these programs retail at over $175 when purchased individually elsewhere.

VirusSafe - Protect your computer from viruses. $39.95 digital, $49.95 retail box.

SurfSafe - Protect your family from pornography and other objectionable material. $39.95 digital, $49.95 retail box.

Change #3 - 15-day Free Trial of EVERYTHING!

In the past, new users only had the option of trying Click-N-Run with a handful of products in the "Jr. Member Aisle." With the release of LindowsOS 4.0, we will be offering new users a 15-day free trial on ALL of our new offerings, including Lindows Plus, Lindows Office, SurfSafe, and VirusSafe. They can try everything absolutely free for 15 days. This will be a great way for people who buy a new LindowsOS computer to try out the complete LindowsOS experience with absolutely no risk!

Change #4 - Monthly Payments

With 4.0, we will also be introducing a few monthly payment plans. For example, if someone would rather pay for their annual Click-N-Run Membership in monthly installments of $4.95, instead of one lump fee of $49.95, they will have that option (imagine, for under 20 cents a day, less than a pack of gum, you can have a great range of your computer software needs met).

Monthly payment plans are not being introduced to replace the regular up-front pricing, but simply as an option for those who would like to break down their purchase into smaller payments. The choice will be up to the consumer on how they want to purchase their products.

Change #5 - Bundles

As I mentioned, instead of users feeling like they are "forced" to buy more than they need, we have broken apart everything into individual pieces so that the user can buy as much or as little as they like. However, we do still want to offer tremendous value for those wishing to purchase groups of products or services. We call these "bundles." Look for several bundle packages that will save consumers a great deal on these products and services. Here are just a couple of examples of bundles we'll be offering:

and...

I've created a page of answers to questions that I've been asked about the new products and why we have made the changes that we have. Click here to see that page. Pricing for bundles will be announced when 4.0 is released, and you'll see that we really are providing "The World's Most Affordable Software." If you have any friends who would be interested in being notified when the new product line is available and what the bundle prices are, forward this e-mail to them, and they can click here to get on a Lindows.com mailing list too.
