ajaxTunes is the newest addition to the ajax line-up of software services announced by ajaxLaunch. It's a mini music player which requires no installation or download and works in all browsers. This means web sites can do more than just talk about songs or show pictures of bands, but let people listen to music regardless of what software or player is installed. Search engines can use it to let people preview songs on the net. Personal pages can allow visitors to play single songs or even a list of songs. And end users can use it to play their own music collections in the background on their computer.
ajaxTunes is a great example of "software as a service" and I expect to see a wide variety of uses. Here are some samples.
Individual Song Listings:
Breathe Me by Sia - Norah Jones meets Evanescence.
Listen now
Upon This Tidal Wave Of Young Blood by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - One of the biggest net breakout bands of 2005 who burst to attention by releasing their songs in MP3 format (also runner - up in longest band name and song name contest) Listen now
We All Lose One Another by Jason Collett - Need a new story teller artist to go along with your old Neil Young records? Here it is. Listen now
Playing a List of Songs:
If you want a variety of music, my recommendation is to personally adopt a band and give them your support in any form. My adopted band is Karmacoda. I tell my friends about them. I go to their concerts. And I gave them a sizable gift around Christmas to buy the first copy of their upcoming CD. You can listen to clips of their songs in the ajaxTunes player.

Playing Your Personal Music:
ajaxTunes can also be a handy widget you can use to play music in the background on your computer. It gives you all the basic controls (pause, fast-forward, rewind, selecting playlist or arists) in a mini layout which won't clog up your desktop.
Listen now using the free demo account which doesn't even require a registration. One click and you have high quality music streaming to your desktop. If you find it handy, then you can create your own free locker and load it up with any of the 200 gigabytes of free music at Sideload.com. If you want to load all the tracks from your own PC, then you'll want to register for the premium account which gives you unlimited storage and bandwidth for just $39.95/year.
If you'd like to see the actual code allowing you to use ajaxTunes for your own music needs, visit ajaxTunes.
